I will not abandon this blog

Wow, it’s been nearly one and a half months since I blogged. It’s funny, because I have to be in that certain reflective mood in order to write properly on this here blog. Often, it’s some combination of feeling like I have nothing interesting to say, or I can’t come up with a way to say it in a coherent way.

The other problem is Twitter. Somehow, my lag of blogging is curiously correlated with my decision to start tweeting sometime in late October. The causal reason behind the correlation is as follows: before, when I’m just walking around, or sitting somewhere by myself eating or on the train or whatever, I’ll start following some strand of thought and start mentally editing it, playing around with the prose, until it becomes something blog-worthy. Now that I’m on Twitter, my ideas are truncated at 140 characters. I have a thought, I want to tell other people about it on the internet, I start tapping stuff into my phone right that instant. The little infant idea then leaves my head and enters the public domain. No time for nurturing, no time to mull around, to string together various strands of thought. Just instantaneous spasms. Hit and runs.

This cannot continue.

So, my dear friends, if you do read this blog, and enjoy what I have written in the past, please write a little blurb in the comments to give me some reason to keep writing. I’m sorry I haven’t written in so long.
